Concept Learning

The concept we are focusing on this term is Identity. We are excited to be able to share our learning on our blog.

 MATHS

We will be starting the term by looking at Statistics. In Week 4 we will begin cross grouping for Maths and we will begin with Addition and Subtraction.

WRITING

We are beginning the term by looking at our goals for the term. We will also be looking at the descriptive language we can use in our narratives and in other writing. Check out our blog to see some great pieces of writing!

BRAINFOOD

Children need a healthy snack to eat for brainfood. As we often do not stop work to eat, it is important that the snack they choose is easy to eat.

 P.E.

We are focussing on Throwing and Catching this term. Cricket is our kiwi sport focus for 6 weeks beginning in Week 3. Activator fitness will be starting in Week 4. This is where the children of Room 17 will lead fitness activities with each class.

HOMEWORK

Homework books, book bags and reading logs need to come to school every day.

Homework books are collected in on Friday and returned to the class on Monday.

Each week children have 10-15 words that they need to learn and practice. These words are pre tested at school.

Basic facts homework is now online and children are expected to practice these every day. They will need to put a tick in their homework book to show they have practised.

They are also expected to read each night and record the title of the book in their Reading log. These are collected in on Mondays or Tuesdays and given back the same day.

Our library day is Monday so children need to bring back their books on this day to return or renew them.

We will be visiting Te Hana Marae on Wednesday 14th March.

Here is the link to our class blog. On it you will be able to see all our classes learning.
