Donation & Activity Fees

Oteha Valley School Board of Trustees asks parents/caregivers to pay an annual donation of $195 per child to help pay for resources and utilities not covered by the school’s Ministry of Education operations grant. It’s a voluntary payment and can be paid off over the year.

Some compulsory activity fees include a Kiwisport fee of $20 for the year. This pays for a qualified Kiwisport coach who teaches the children skills and rules of a range of great sports. In the past children have participated in golf, basketball, squash, badminton, hockey, table tennis, rippa rugby, softball, volleyball and AFL.

Swimming: We don’t have a swimming pool on our grounds but all children participate in 10 swimming lessons run by the Albany Stadium pool. Details are given to parents at the beginning of the school year.

Camps: Children in Year 4-6 experience overnight camps. In Year 4 the children sleep over at school for a night. In Year 5 they have a night and two days at MERC and in Year 6 they go to Camp Adair, Hunua for three days and two nights. Camps and overnight stays are an important aspect of developing independence, risk taking and resilience, in a safe, controlled environment.

We encourage you to come and talk to us before your child starts school. We’re happy to arrange a tour of the school for you and your child to ensure a positive start to their educational journey.
